Yes, you heard it right, Disney is now producing a sequel to the 1982 Sci-Fi Classic TRON!

---

Tron: Legacy is a science fiction film scheduled for release in 2010. It is a sequel to the 1982 film Tron. Joseph Kosinski makes his feature film directorial debut with Tron: Legacy, while the previous film director, Steven Lisberger, returns as a producer. Jeff Bridges reprises his role as Kevin Flynn, and Bruce Boxleitner his roles as Alan Bradley and Tron, while Garrett Hedlund portrays Flynn's now-adult son, Sam. The other cast members include Olivia Wilde, Beau Garrett, Michael Sheen and John Hurt. At over twenty-eight years, this film marks the longest gap between a live-action film and its theatrical sequel in Hollywood history. According to the latest trailer, the film will be presented in Digital 3D, IMAX 3D and RealD 3D.

The movie was also revealed during the recent San Diego Comic Con where the popular Light Cycle was unveiled.

Comic Con Light Cycle Unveiling:

8 Minutes worth of TRON LEGACY was shown during the Comi Con too.

Details are here: http://www.aintitcool.com/node/45869

It was funny that they showed the scenes from Simpsons, Family Guy, Robot Chicken, etc. where they parodied TRON.

And here's the 2 recent trailers:

This is old news that has been floating around for a while now. And personally, I can't bring myself to see it. Tron was like the only good Disney movie (to me, anyways), and it should have stayed as a one-shot.

The new motorcycle does not look the same as the ones from the first movie (I wonder if that is intentional or not), and this movie is made with that crappy, extra-fake looking CGI called Disney Digital 3D. Plus, the stories and plots of Disney movies have never felt deep or compelling to me, so I am worried about this new movie.

Well, thanks but being based in Asia, I've only gotten to see what is out there currently through news about the Comic Con. I thought it would still be awesome, even for me who wasn't even born when the 1st movie was shown, I only saw excerpts of it. I like the sinister feel to the sequel though.

Have you not SEEN any of the trailers? The 30 year old Kurt Russel looks AMAZING!! Not to mention on an effects heavy movie, they'll be working on all the effects right up until release.

I've never watched TRON.

That's what I said after seeing the trailer to TRON Legacy, thinking "man, if the sequel to TRON looks like this, I wonder what the ORIGINAL ONE was like!"... and then I watched it... and regretted it.

Why were you expecting something on par with what can be done today, when the original movie was made in 1982?
