The 3D effects in Tron were like they were in Avatar, pretty damn good and weren't thrown in just for "OH MY GOD IT'S 3D, so lets have our characters point at the screen or throw **** at the screen!" Seeing as how it was also filmed in 3D.

Sure the medium is kind of a fad right now, cause every movie is doing it whether it fits or not, but in Tron it works.
