The future of Star Wars is….definitely NOT in the theaters. After overcooking the franchise with three rushed sequel movies and a couple of spinoffs, Disney noticed how The Mandalorian made a significantly larger cultural splash than Rise Of Skywalker, and decided “fine, it’s a TV thing from now on.” All the theatrical projects Lucasfilm has announced in previous years
are now “on hold.”
But we’re sure getting a lot more shows! Obi-Wan arrives in one week and after that’s done, you can look forward to something called Andor later this summer. It stars Diego Luna, and we assume he is reprising his role from Rogue One, as it’s about the very beginnings of the Rebellion against the Empire. After that, 2022 gets a little murky, but 2023 sounds packed.
It will be the year we finally get the Ahsoka show...
