So the Heisei Era ends on the final day of April when the current Emperor abdicates, and the Reiwa Era begins on the 1st of May when his eldest son ascends to the throne to become the new Emperor.

You could have been forgiven then for thinking that Kamen Rider Ginga, the future Rider appearing in Zi-O, would be the final new Heisei Rider. But not so fast, because the Toei Tokusatsu Fan Club has announced a two part special to be released before the end of this month, and it's star will claim the title.

And who is this mysterious Rider?

Yeah, so apparently Drive Saga: Kamen Rider Brain is going to be a thing?! This was originally announced two years ago as an April Fools Day prank, but apparently they're actually going ahead with it now...or the official Kamen Rider twitter account released the joke announcement video a day late...I guess we'll see.

So if it's real, it will consist of two episodes written by the head writer of Drive, Roku Sanjo, and directed by Kyohei Yamaguchi, who previously directed ten episodes of Drive along with the Kamen Rider #4 special.

According to the announcement, the first episode will be released on April 14th and the second episode will come out one week later on April 21st.

It's been confirmed that Heart, Medic, and Krim Steinbelt will all be appearing (and played by their original actors) in this special. It sees to have been pushed back slightly so now episode one is coming out on April 28th and episode two is coming out on May 5th.

Episode two has been released in Japan and the big surprise was that Yu Inaba made a cameo appearance as Go (Kamen Rider Mach).

Wait, so was this supposed to be a movie, or was Brain the third Rider Time Special?

It's just a couple of short (7 or 8 mins) comedic specials starring some of the cast of Drive that was made for the Toei Tokusatsu Fan Club streaming site. They're basically a bit of lighthearted fan-service for their subscribers.
