Is the time between these Games Done Quick marathons getting shorter every year? Actually, what’s happening is you’re getting older and your perception of time is decreasing, but that has nothing to do with what we’re talking about…it’s a new GDQ, gang!
For most of you, I don’t have to explain what GDQ is at this point, but for the few that just now joined us, it is a week-long marathon of video games, played as quickly as possible by the best speedrunners in the world, using any game-breaking techniques or bugs that are allowed. The stream is a charity event and alternates between supporting the Prevent Cancer Foundation and Doctors Without Borders (this one is helping DWB again).
100% of pledges go to the charity; the sponsors listed at GDQ are funding the cost of the event. Pledges to the charity also count as votes toward special events — quite often a speedrunner will do something extra if the pledge line goes past a certain point by the time they are done.
