Portals have so many uses, so why restrict them to the puzzle game that bears their name? The team at 1047 Games thought portals would be a pretty fun element in an arena shooter, so they set out to make one. The end result is Splitgate: Arena Warfare, a combination of Portal and the game they once worked on, Halo.
The idea for Splitgate started when Ian Proulx and Nicholas Bagamian, two computer science majors at Stanford, decided to stick portals into an FPS as part of a project demo. They realized they had something, and the team and project scope grew and grew. 1047 Games says they want to bring back the glory days of arena shooters with their creation.
