It’s been a long, loooong time since Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s South Park ran regular episodes — the show went on an extended break once the pandemic started, only appearing in one-hour “specials” to address the situation. Two more specials produced exclusively for Paramount+ went into it deeper, depicting a middle-aged Stan and Kyle in a dark future. Now, for the first time since 2019, regular half-hour episodes are once again premiering on their original home, Comedy Central — and there’s no mention of the pandemic at all in these, even though it’s still around. If they were just feeling tired of it, I don’t blame them.
Last week the series tackled the issue of tokenism through the lens of the character Tolkien (yes, that’s been his name the whole time…why, what did YOU think it was?) This week Cartman’s mother has a new job selling homes with South Park Realty, and Cartman isn’t pleased about it — for a very Cartman reason.
