Music Soundcloud may have to close down

We all know about Soundcloud. It allows unknown musicians and artists to showcase their music to the world. We also know from social media how these SoundCloud users tend to post about this music all over the place, possibly annoying everyone :D. But that may not happen in the future because a report has stated that SoundCloud may only have 50 days left because of its diminishing funds. SoundCloud recently laid off 40 percent of its staff last week and closed offices in San Francisco and London but it doesn't seem to be enough to help the company survive. And while Chance the Rapper might save the fledgling music service, we are still unsure whether it is really possible.

What do you guys think? Will you miss SoundCloud?

I haven't really visited the site yet, but I have heard of them. I know a few websites that have closed already due to lack of funds, especially if they didn't get to be as popular to the point that they would earn enough revenue. I guess it's time to cut their losses.

It was confirmed today by SoundCloud that they would not be closing down which is great news for any of the sites users and aspiring musicians that used the site. I'm not 100% sure but I think Chance the Rapper did something to help the company survive. Most likely he donated some funds so that they could stay open for some more time but I doubt they are out of trouble now. They really need to do something to grow bigger in the music industry but that won't be easy. Hopefully Chance the Rapper can help them survive for a few more months especially since he started off on the site.

I hate that certain SoundCloud users annoy everyone. Nonetheless, I think it's cool that a venue for unknown music exists. Maybe there could be some sort of compromise where unknown people get a chance, but certain groups don't become attention-heads, so to speak.

Most likely he donated some funds so that they could stay open for some more time but I doubt they are out of trouble now.

Actually, those kinds of popular indie art sites are easy to raise money for. For instance, all they have to do is go on some crowdfunding platform like GoFundMe or IndieGoGo.

Personally I've never really been a user of SoundCloud but I am obviously aware of how important it's been in the music scene. While at the moment it's future seems to be fairly secure, time moves on and with SoundCloud I do think they are maybe going to have to look at doing things differently.

I'm sure we all remember MySpace and know what happened to that. That just goes to show that no matter how big a site is, they are always on the brink of closing as trends change.

I heard about this terrible news recently :(, but I really hope it's not true (It can be true ). I love Soundcloud!

It's so nice, practical and useful! I met several new songs, bands and singers through it. It's really good!

I googled a bit and it was never confirmed that Chance The Rapper intervened to prevent the site from closing. If he saved the site, then that shouldn't be hidden from the public, right? So they should confirm how the site managed to survive.

ersonally I've never really been a user of SoundCloud but I am obviously aware of how important it's been in the music scene.

Anything that important to the public is easily kept alive. Again, all that needs to be done is have a fundraiser on these Crowdfunding sites. In fact, I bet there is already one in existence - and that it's making progress.
