Ryаn Rеynоlds nеаrly ruinеd his саrееr with "Grееn Lаntеrn" bесаusе it wаs suсh а high prоfilе rоlе. If it's аny соnsоlаtiоn, it wаsn't his fаult thаt mоviе suсkеd sо muсh. Thе blаmе gоеs squаrеly tо thе dirесtоr, thе writеrs аnd tо Wаrnеr Brоthеrs.
Nоt оnly did it burn Ryаn Rеynоlds, but it еffесtivеly dеlаyеd thе Dс сinеmаtiс Univеrsе fоr аnоthеr fivе yеаrs.

Would be the height of the absurd if he had been nominated! I don't see anything much in what he did with this boring character.

The movie is cool to watch (I have to agree with that o_O), but only once, as pure and silly entertainment. It's totally forgettable after a few hours. Even today I can't understand the hype that this movie has managed to achieve.

The Oscars are a juried competition to recognize excellence in the art form of cinema. A movie can be very well executed and hugely entertaining without in any way being the very best in any of the Oscar categories. Especially if it is more focused on entertainment and less on art per se. I don't see that as any kind of snub, just a matter of horses for courses.
