Release Date Announced For Final Fantasy 8 Remastered

We now know when Final Fantasy 8 will at last join its PS-1 era colleagues as a high-definition re-released product on modern devices! And it happens in two weeks: September 3.

We not only know the release date, but the specific special features. There were questions about how cheats like invincibility would work, given that FF is wired so that increasing your level actually increases the level of the monsters around you (key to victory: junctioning). They must have found a way, because the enhancements offered here are similar to the other releases:

• Battle Assist: The ability to always have maxed out HP and ATB, and trigger Limit Breaks at any time.
• No Encounters: An enemy encounter option that allows players to enjoy the storyline uninterrupted. While enemy encounters are turned off, players can still enjoy the story event battles.
• 3x Speed Boost: Play through the game with three times the speed.
• The STEAM version will also receive additional functions, including All Items (possess all items except for a few certain items), All Abilities, GF Max Level, Max Gil, Max Magic, All Limit Breaks, and All Cards (possess max number of Triple Triad Cards except for Rare Cards).

FINAL FANTASY VIII Remastered celebrates its 20th anniversary by bringing the cherished RPG to modern platforms, featuring newly rendered visuals that bring the game’s beloved characters to life like never before. Players step into the shoes of SeeD recruit Squall Leonhart and resistance fighter Rinoa Heartilly as they work together to save the world from the military nation of Galbadia.

The remastered version includes the following boosts to enhance the experience:

The remaster looks amazing! They created new cutscenes for this game like its a remake. Sadly they didnt add voice acting. I wish they added voice acting on the remaster.

I think we may have to wait for 20 years before this game gets a remake so a remaster is the best option for us fans of FF8.

The soundtrack of this game is such a classic they were never remixed for the remaster trailer!

Here is a graphics comparison between original and remaster. The remaster managed to make a ps1 game look like a ps2 game. I think most of the 3d games don't need remakes, a simple remaster can do the magic.

So they made Rinoa skinnier and made her chest flatter? I love the improvement of hair textures on the remaster. I wish their mouths are moving while they are talking but I guest its extra work for them.

This Final Fantasy 8 remaster will be getting a lot of new quality features to make the gameplay a lot smoother - including new speed options, an option to skip random encounters, and battle assitance as well.
