Books Realistic fiction recommendations

Much as I enjoy speculative fiction, fantasy, science fiction, and all that--I really feel sometimes that I just have got to diversify!

So, please feel free to recommend me your favorite realistic fiction, whether historical or contemporary, classics, young adult, or for whatever other demographic.

I read actual history! Hahahaha

You should try reading Will & Ariel Durant's Civilization series. They are easy and interesting to read! Classic biographies like Casanova's 'History of my life' are top notch as well.

But fiction wise, I would recommend Les Miserables by Victor Hugo and Candide by Voltaire!
