Hey guys!!

I have just some curious questions about Super Sentai in Hong Kong..

1) I just learned that Shinkenger in Cantonese is called "Mou Si Sing Doi". What are the other Sentai series called in Hong Kong?

2) Why do they not change the logo into Cantonese? I mean, for example Shinkenger in Hong Kong is called Mou Si Sing Doi, but in the intro there is still the Japanese logo that reads "Samurai Sentai Shinkenger", which will mean nothing to the Cantonese viewing audiance, yet the Japanese logo appears in one of the toy commercials and presumably on the Toy packaging too.. Why is that?

3) Are there any Super Sentai Boxset DVDs from Hong Kong that are legit and not bootlegs. I've seen plenty of cheap Kamen Rider and Ultraman boxsets on YesAsia, but I can't seem to find any Super Sentai ones.

Regarding the "Sentai" part, "Sing Doi" doesn't really sound like Cantonese. I think "Jeen Dui" is more like it. Then again, it can be difficult to sound things out in Cantonese and spell it in English.

Not sure, but I think Gaoranger was the first to be dubbed in Cantonese so I'll start from there...

(Some of the intros have them saying the Cantonese titles too so it's better to watch those than try to sound it out via text.)

Gaoranger - 百獣戦隊 - Baat Sow Jeen Dui

Hurrianger - 忍風戦隊 - Yun Fung Jeen Dui

Abaranger - 爆竜戦隊 - Bao Lung Jeen Dui

Dekaranger - 特捜戦隊 - Duk Sow Jeen Dui

Magiranger - 魔法戦隊 - Mo Fat Jeen Dui

Boukenger - 轟轟戦隊 - Gwun Gwun Jeen Dui

[hide]Couldn't find a Cantonese intro when I searched. This is the best I could find:

Probably because it's cheaper to simply reuse an existing logo rather than create a new one. And the Cantonese title is actually already in the logo so it's not true that it "will mean nothing to the Cantonese viewing audience". With the exception of Shinkenger, all the Cantonese titles have been exactly the same as the kanji "subtitle" in the Japanese titles.

Don't know since I don't buy any toku DVDs. I'd guess probably bootleg as I don't think Toei cares about those outside Japan so I don't see how they could be "official".
