Nintendo Japan has confirmed its next console will launch in calendar year 2012, and will be announced and playable at E3 this year.
The company confirmed this news via a brief press release which stated the following:
“We will show a playable model of the new system and announce more specifications at the E3 Expo, which will be held June 7-9, 2011, in Los Angeles.”
The new machine is rumoured to have a touch-screen controller. Various other rumours are doing the rounds on the system’s power, specifications and lots more.
Nintendo also confirmed that Wii has sold over 86 million units worldwide since its launch in 2006.
