Yeah, so they are hunting for a guy in his 50's who drove up to a Teenage girl biking to school and asked her if their was a McDonalds near by. She told him she didn't know and he drove off.

I guess there weren't any foreigner's around to haul in and beat false confessions out of.

There are some horror stories regarding Japanese Police dept. and their interactions with Foreign's.

One was of a white guy in Nagano who got hauled in and held for almost a full day since a Store on the other side of the city was robbed and he matched vague description of the robber, namely that he was white and had brown eyes like the robber.

Stories of the cops ignoring crimes against foreign's ether because no one in the Dept can speak their language (English and Chinese most frequently) or they don't just don't want to help non-Japanese have surfaced too.
