Uncork’d Entertainment will be releasing their spaghetti Western Once Upon A Time In Deadwood to disc tomorrow, November 19.
You might be thinking they picked the title “Deadwood” as an intentional eye-catcher for fans of the 2000s HBO series, but in actuality, this is intended as a homage to the classic picture Once Upon A Time In The West starring Charles Bronson and Sergio Leone. Many of the locations used for this film are the same as in that one, intentionally.
But Bronson is no longer with us, so Robert Bronzi plays a gunslinger who’s been coerced into a rescue mission. An heiress was willing to pay him big bucks to rescue her kidnapped sister….but he wasn’t interested, so she poisoned his food and told him he had three days to live unless he could track down the kidnapped woman, who holds the antidote.
