Some popular cartoon characters get a raw deal from video game manufacturers, but that wasn’t the case for the Ninja Turtles. Sure, their first console outing on the NES might’ve been a bit rough, but they found a winning formula quickly with the release of their first arcade game. All others would follow the brawler template and stand among the finest examples of the genre. The Turtles have had games since the 16-bit days, but none quite as good as from their original streak.
Publisher Dotemu and the development team behind Scott Pilgrim: The Game figured it was time to go back. So they present Shredder’s Revenge, a brand-new beat-em-up starring the original, syndicated, pre-Nickelodeon versions of the Turtles. It’s all here: the co-op, the distinct gameplay styles for each Turtle, the tough bosses, and the guy in sharp metal who wants to eat Turtle Soup. And yes, you can throw Foot soldiers at the camera.
