Arkane Lyon’s Deathloop is in a weird place. It was declared a Playstation exclusive when it was first announced, but since then, Microsoft has purchased the entirety of Bethesda — the software giant that owns Arkane. This means the studio’s next big release won’t be on their parent company’s system — just the competition. Go figure.
Today Arkane revealed the release date for the game, along other details. We’ll be able to pick it up starting May 21, 2021 (assuming no delays from this point). Unfortunately Deathloop has also been confirmed as being exclusive to the next generation of systems — you will need a Playstation 5 to play it on console. And good luck finding one if you didn’t have your name on the batch that was shipped today.
It’s too bad you can’t just do what protagonist Colt does and go back in time to get a PS5. But then again, you’d have to do it over and over. Colt is double-marooned, trapped in a time loop AND on a crime-infested island of danger. To break...
