It’s been a while since we had to think about Bioshock, but it’s coming back…sort of. Netflix just announced they have reached a deal with 2K Games and Take-Two Interactive to produce “a film adaptation of the renowned video game franchise BioShock.” 2K will be working with the production company Vertical Entertainment to bring the game to life.
Released in an era of mindless and colorless shooters, the original Bioshock won critics over with its brainy take on the FPS, incorporating puzzle elements and a political storyline that criticized Objectivism (the sequel would tackle Nationalism).
Details are pretty vague at this point and it’s unknown if this movie follows the plot of the game series or if it goes its own direction (like the Halo show is doing). We also don’t know if it takes place exclusively in Rapture or if we’ll see Columbia too.
