Shuichi Shigeno is probably best known for Initial D, the iconic street racing manga he wrote and drew for nearly 20 years. Four years after retiring Initial D, Shigeno stated focusing on a new story, albeit with similar themes: MF Ghost, which began in 2017. It’s still running today, serialized in the pages of Weekly Young Magazine, and its book collections have sold over 2.7 million copies. It’s about time MF Ghost showed up in America, don’t you think?
Kodansha has teamed up with ComiXology to produce an official English translation of MF Ghost, which will begin appearing in the digital library January 11 (hey, that’s tomorrow). So what is MF Ghost anyway? It’s basically an Initial D spinoff, and also, the initials in the title don’t stand for what you’re thinking they do.
