FF1-6 remakes: Octopath, XV, Brave Exvius, or Tokyo RPG factory.

So let’s say Square Enix decided to remake the first six Final Fantasy games and were trying to decide what art direction to go with.

1. HD sprite art in the style of Project Octopath Traveler (aka 2D art in a 3D world)
2. A full on HD remake in the style of Final Fantasy XV or FF7R (likely reusing assets built for Dissidia NT)
3. Sprite art in vein of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius (2D art in a 2D world; would be a one to one remake with very few design changes)
4. Chibi 3D models like in I am Setsuna and Lost Sphear.

3 and 4 already have remakes. The remake of Final Fantasy 4 even had a sequel.

Final fantasy 3 remake:

They made it chibi to appeal to Final Fantasy 9 fanbase but they are normal sized in 3d.

Final Fantasy 4 is the most successful remake as it managed to have a sequel:

I think it will be a waste to remake 1 in 3d because It doesnt really have much of a deep storyline and it's too generic. Also technically Final Fantasy 9 is a "reboot" of 1. it is a reimagining of 1.
