I'll just chip in my two cents about magazines and stuff being too expensive.... £5 isn't outrageous for a magazine these days, in fact, I'd say it's average. But the cost of magazines and comics has gone through the roof in the last decade or so. Anyone remember paying 20p for the Beano? That's like £2.99 now. I used to get Sonic The Comic for like £1.20. Then in the two or three years before its demise in 2002, that price doubled. Prices for monthly mags seemed to level at £4.99, and that's way more than I can just waste.

You'd think with news being free and fast online, magazines would lower their prices to stay competitive.....

considering more and more of the population are out of work now, and mostly only getting £100 every two weeks. (and I dont mean from being lazy, I mean from job losses etc) so for me £5 is a bit to much for a magzine ... which I can read the information online for free

I can personally say £100 isnt enough for two weeks, by the time, rent, food, electric, gas is paid for your not left with alot

and I do remember cheap beano's Ive just finished getting rid of my old ones which where between 20p-80p

and I belive that is over priced, that £5 pound could put food on the table etc, especially since these days news etc is all posted online for free

I don't really collect EVERY issue of Neo Magazine. so it's not too much of a problem. I haven't brought a Neo magazine for a long time now. I think only really want to buy this issue just for the Super Sentai article.

Speaking of magazines, I used to be a keen fan of video games magazines. I used to subscribe to N64 Magazine, Official PlayStation Magazine, Official Dreamcast magazine, even CVG..

Eventually my interest in video games magazines slipped away, and nowadays I prefer to watch people's reviews on YouTube because you can watch the game in action rather than look at screenshots. I occaisionally buy Retro Gamer but all the other gaming magazines are just not very interesting.

Oh and does anybody remember PlayStation Plus? Fricking hell, the amount of nude ladies they print in that magazine (with the boobies being censored out with weird images of course). Was it really nessesary though? I mean, they're surposed to be a PlayStation mag not a porno mag.

lol I'm used to the price hike in mags now, I remember when even the beano was not even close to a £1 : <

I like NEO it's always an interesting read, because more than often whilst I'm friends with a lot of anime fans in the UK, I just don't get a good view of what's the general consensus on anime/manga etc over here. NEO gives me a good insight into that because of all the news coverage, also I do find it to be fairly influential in that regard as it's often behind a lot of the events that go down over here.

Also I love how toku articles keep popping up in recent issues XD

Hell, a few years ago when I asked people if they've heard of kamen rider, I just got the usual "it's power rangers right?" but recently I've found people are like OMG YEAH I KNOW THEM, I even met a girl at a gig who watched all of Decade XD The fact that NEO are starting to look into more tokusatsu (aswell as having Matt Kamen on the team who I hear is a massive rider fan) just makes NEO that more special nowadays :D

Also tomorrow I'm fukken buying that issue that's got the gokaiger article, £5 be damned I'm cherishing this coverage!

EDIT: Oh I forgot to add, I found a core medal in London XD it was in a magazine in a japanese shop, it's the kangaroo medal too :D

Also Aniblack, curious any chance you went to SOS?

thats epic about the medal man!

the only toku related stuff I see round here is power rangers, and the occasionl kamen rider knock off in the pound shop.

I get what you mean about meeting someone that see's kamen rider as more than a power ranger thing, while I was working for orange broadband, on my team a guy started a conversation up that 'did you know that power rangers was based on a japanese tv show that started in the late 80's' and another guy went 'kamen rider looked cooler anyway' ... neither of them had seen the shows but knew quite a bit about them (im guessing from wiki) however the guy who started the convo doesnt use the internet himself which is why im guessing he got the date year wrong for sentai, but it does make me wonder how he knew the rest, I did try asking him but he sorta ignored the question and prefered to belive he knew more about the subject than me

SOS? *scans brain* You mean Summer of Sonic, perhaps? I'm afraid I couldn't make it. I'm a bit tied up with other things, and stone broke. :) I hear Yuji Naka was there. Too bad. I want to talk to Naka while Richard Jaques plays dulcet tunes on the Casio!

Oh, man! Nigel Dobbyn was my favourite artist, back in the day. He did most of the Knuckles strips.... had a really great style, awesome colouring, too.

I used to love his work on it full stop XD, my favorite set he worked on was a tailes story by himself where a doppelganger was causing trouble and poor tails was getting the blame. Ive spoken to him on DA but I think if I spoke him in person he might get a bit freaked out, apparently his daughter is doing well at drawing to, im sure I read it in a local paper or something :eyebrow:
