Dark Quest is not a board game. Well, rather, it is…but it isn’t. It’s a video game with the mechanics of a board game…that calls itself “Board Game.” Try not to get confused.
In Dark Quest: Board Game (the video game), you build a party, draw adventure cards, roll dice, and fight monsters to stop the plans of a nameless sorcerer. Maybe that’s him in the official art up above. He doesn’t look that threatening.
Like seemingly 87% of indie games that have hit Steam in the past three years, Dark Quest: Board Game (not a board game) is a roguelike. Says Brain Seal, the game’s developer, “you start the game at hero camp where you must create your party and then go on a journey throughout the world by choosing different areas. Choose each area based on your party’s strengths and weaknesses. Upgrade your party, search for hidden equipment, battle ferocious monsters and become a hero!”
