Crunchyroll made its latest move toward Total Anime Domination in the West with the purchase of Right Stuf, the long-standing online anime and manga warehouse. The announcement was made yesterday, at the exact moment the deal closed — it has apparently been in the works for a while in secret.
Right Stuf is one of the premiere US sellers of Japanese entetainment products and stocks “Blu-rays, manga books, music, figurines, collectables, and more.” They’ve also dipped their hand in direct distribution at times, translating and licensing out select titles on their own. They won’t need to do that anymore, of course.
“For years, Right Stuf has been an important part of anime fandom with products, services and a shopping experience that super-serves anime collectors,” said Rahul Purini, President of Crunchyroll. “We are excited to bring Crunchyroll and Right Stuf together and offer fans even more of what they love as one company.”
