I know this might sound like a very strange thread idea, but I was a little bit curious if anyone could shed a little bit of light on the cameras used by Toei throughout the decades.

The main reason why is because I'm all together convinced that they never upgraded their cameras on Sentai until Goaranger

I'm sure they were on 16mm film from the beginning, which was the 'standard' for the time then moved to analogue tape sometime around Flashman and digital video from Gaoranger onwards. Boukenger was the first series to be filmed in HD.

Looks like Dobutsu Sentai Gobuster will be going back to 16mm as an homage.

At least thats what it looks like.

or they could just be using Super 16mm 1080P HD cinema cameras, because film stock is costly.
