Many of you grew up watching the Anime Dragonball Z, I am sure you are familiar with Son Goku. Akira Toriyama the writer of that iconic anime based his famous character from Sun Wukong, A Mythological humanoid Monkey King from an old Chinese novel from Ancient China titled ” Journey to the West. The name Son Goku is actually the Japanese translation for the name Sun Wukong.
If you see a fictional character with Monkey traits that rides a cloud and uses a staff as a weapon, most likely that character is inspired by Sun Wukong. Other great examples will be Son Son from the Capcom game Son Son and Monkey from Enslaved: Odyssey to the West.
Most Asian Pop culture with elements of fantasy and magic have influence from Journey to the West.
Black Myth: Wukong by the developer Game Science jut launched a gameplay trailer of a Dark Souls playstyle like RPG that showcases their new title for 13 minutes.
