Could BitComet 0.70 damage the internet connection of a computer with Windows XP?

No idea about BitComet. But honestly, I've heard/read so many stories/articles/testimonials from varied online forums/websites that talk about BitComet repeatedly and constantly causing problems like this that I'm surprised it's still around.

Try switching to uTorrent GL. I've gotten other people that I know online who were using BitComet who were having problems with it to make the switch and they were convinced that it was better in no time.

Agreed. uTorrent is a much better option.

It's speed is the real reason I use it. Usually when I use utorrent it runs at mostly 35 to 45kb/s, but BitComet normally goes to 130 to 180kb/s. Is there a way to get uTorrent near the hundreds?

That's really weird, because I've had much better DL speeds since switching over to uTorrent compared to when I've used it before. In all likelihood you just need to make sure that your port settings are properly set and that none of your connection settings are mistakenly slowing it down. The settings might be dependant upon what part of the country you live it, and what sort of connection you've got. Best thing to do I think, would be to see if you can find some help on optimizing uTorrent's settings, either on the forums on the uTorrent website and/or just through Google.
