Collectibles Are Funko Pop Figures still a big deal?

I remember people going nuts for them not too long ago. I never got into them myself. I thought they looked goofy. The only ones I liked the look of were the animal ones, that was it. I never bought into the whole fad of them I guess. Lately, I am seeing them being marked down on several sites online. Are they not as popular anymore? I know my younger sister was collecting them and now they are in a box in the garage at my parent's house, she couldn't care less.
