What an unbelievable and terrible catastrophe. I wonder if the seismic experts in Japan had an irking of the incoming earthquake, because a 8.8-magnitude earthquake won't just come out of the left field, would it? I have a friend in Japan and he has told me via Twitter & Facebook and he's alright, thank goodness. This will be a long recovery for the people of Japan once the aftershocks have subsided.
I've read that they had about 15 minutes of warning time. It isn't enough to do too much, but at least enough to start gathering up family and friends.

They're now worried about the nuclear reactor there. Big trouble, obviously, if that thing goes.....

And CNN is claiming that this isn't an aftershock, it's a totally different earthquake.

I'm watching CNN and they are reporting there is another earthquake near Nagano.

One big problem is... the nuclear reactor.... :-/
