Who doesn't love Masayuki Tanaka?! :buttrock:

In 1999 he was chosen to do the theme song of the latest Ultraman series, Ultraman Gaia. The song was a instant hit in the Ultraman fandom, and became so popular that it was heavily featured as a reocurring element in The Battle in Hyperspace, and was featured as it's ending theme too. It's a J-Pop Metal classic. And then in 2000, something unprecedented happened and the competition hired him too! Only this time Toei wanted to bring his success to the Kamen Rider comeback series, Kuuga. He did a theme song that ended up becoming not only a popular single, but is popular to this day on soundtracks and at Super Hero Spirits concerts. He was the man then! But who else thinks we should have those kinds of themes and leave these pop groups outta toku?

But who else agrees that he was the **** for both series, and made some of the best themes? And on top of that, who thinks we should STOP having these annoying boy band techno rock shits? It's so old, and should be more dramatic like the great theme Tanaka provided for us in Kuuga! :coolshades: Wouldn't you agree!

Toei needs him back for Kamen Rider theme songs. I can't stress this enough.

He's so amazing! I mean the guy makes the most dramatic themes! But honestly, which theme was better, to you? By the way, look at the vid below. That was from 2009, for a show called "10th Anniversary Project: Kamen Rider Live & Show". And he hasn't aged a day since 1999! He can still do some great **** for toku themes! I'm happy that they didn't get Project DMM for the new Ultraman series, but I want those pop metal themes back again! They were so much more dramatic and timeless, compared to the newer even more poppier cornball themes. Pop is not for toku.

And I definitely don't understand people's infatuation with the "Climax Jump" ****! It wasn't good!

The songs he performed are that damn good, that damn good.

Kamen Rider follows a recent tradition. Apparently, they want different singers/bands for each KR show opening, thus, if an artist returns, it will not be as an op theme (or if there's the chance it has an ending theme... maybe).

I believe it was nice to give it a change and add the very core of JPop into the openings. But as for now, it would be nice to go back to the good ol' artists, and I stress this out more since the next Kamen Rider is going to celebrate the 40th Anniversary (IT WILL). It has to feel epic, and that's what Masayuki Tanaka gave you.

Ultraman has had it's epic themes, and some of the bgms are things you just need to hear to feel how legendary it feels.
Tanaka did an outstanding job with Gaia and he was chosen for the Kuuga op for a very good reason.

Super Sentai could definitely use him.

I love this guy. He kicked ass in my KR Spirits vid of 2004 (I think that was the year).

Kuuga theme = #1.

I totally agree with all of the above! There's something about the slow build up structure of his songs at the beginning that give it that epic churning feeling. Like the song is building up to something great! And it always does! :coolshades:

I agree! KR Kuuga is one proof that he is the biggest thing that year has.

He's is great, but what always impressed me the most was how he ended up doing Ultraman in '99. And then in 2000, did the other toku heavy hitter, Kamen Rider! He literally was the king of toku themes for TWO YEARS IN A ROW.

Nobody has done that since!

Well yes, but it's second half was in '99. That's what I mean. So in other words, Gaia ended in August 1999 and then Kuuga premiered in January 2000. So he was the top dog of toku themes two years in a row. That's impressive, by any means. No one has had a hold on BOTH franchises!
