I double recommend 1984! Such a great novel. Brave New World is also very good in dystopia.
I also recommend Fight Club (the book has awesome haikus!), Slumdog Millionaire the book, Peter Pan is actually pretty good, Wicked, The Count of Monte Cristo... Harry Potter and Lord of the Ring... Lolita. Dead Souls, from Gogol. It really depends what people like to read, but some stuff is classic for a reason
