just got home from my friend's place, we passed the evening making holes all over the spawn body, and it seems to be working, the legs and arms parts are perfect, but for the chest armour will have to make it flatter.

Also, temp fix for those who have Stronger. If you pop off the chest, there's a section of the neck that's hidden from sight. Using a dremel/hobby knife and shaving off a small part of the neck on both sides will let you turn it about 30 degrees either way.
