The threat machine empire Black Magma causes the EPDS to decide to establish the Solar Squadron at a summit. From the EPDS's air force, navy, and rangers, Commander Arashiyama assembles three specialists to become Sun Vulcan. Harsh training begins. Learning of this, Black Magma attacks the EPDS base, but the Sun Vulcan debuts in time to save

I read this: The base commander Arashiyama was played by stuntperson Niibori Kazuo, who played EVERY Red Sentai member from Aka-Ranger (GO-RANGER) to Red Hawk (JETMAN). Arashiyama remains his only non-suited role in the Sentai franchise. He appears at conventions in Japan today displaying all of the famous Sentai poses he did over the decades.

So The Old guy who put the team together is the Red Stunt King?.

 Nope, that's wrong. The dude in my avatar is Niibori. The guy who played Arashiyama is veteran actor Shin Kishida, who passed away shortly after Sunvulcan.

Yeah, and I think Denjiman is much, much, much better than Sunvulcan.

Looks like I need to inform the Mod at TD to fix that error.

The only connection between Denjiman and Sun Vulcan that was told to me was one of the villians being brought back. Nothing more. Or is there?.

Well, there's a few other brief things than Hedorian herself, but I suppose it's not that major -- just slight references to the Denji Star, new villain Amazon Killer being a Vader, and nods like CC the talking cyborg dog. It's no different than watching Agito before Kuuga (which truly makes no difference), but I just think Sunvulcan's overrated and Denjiman trumps it.

What's weird is that I liked Sunvulcan until Ryuusuke left...:disappoin Takayuki's cool, but the show just didn't seem the same.

I got my stuff from an Underground trader buddy of mine. He only deals to me these days though.

But you can get it from Starvic's website. It's costly but it's the only place I know of availible that ain't underground.

Also, HELL SATURN's costume has to be one of the coolest ever.

Why was Red replaced?. I know why in the storyline, but was there anything wrong behind the scenes ala Yellow 4?.

The actor, Ryuusuke Kawasaki, was mostly a musician. I believe he said in an interview that it was known ahead of time that he wouldn't be staying with Sunvulcan, so his contract was for a half-year. I think anything beyond that is speculation, but I'm guessing Toei probably didn't mind going for it since it received attention for "shockingly having two Reds." Not only that, but Takayuki Godai proved to be pretty popular as the second Vul-Eagle.
