Sorry; I can't put my finger on exactly why but for some reason that character really grinds my gears.

I hope Lupin Blue gets given more to do than Garu did, though he seems like the most obvious of the Lupins to fall through the cracks seeing as Red is...a Red, and Yellow is a relatively big name actor.

I thought he was a bad actor as well, so that could be why you didn't like him? In combination with his condescending approach at "cool blue" it was a recipe for disaster. He was such an artificially made character type.

Episode 1 was great! I love the style and presentation of the Lupinranger scenes. I was wondering how the format of the show was going to be like. We had rumors of each Sentai alternating each episode as the focus characters while the other team doesn't appear at all. It was kinda right, in this episode Lupin got more attention compared to Pato, and that maybe in the later episodes it'll be vice versa. Although I suspect that Lupin are true the main characters and Pato will sadly won't be as "important" to the overall plot.

Definitely like the personalities of Team Lupin, so much more likeable. Team Pato, Pato Ichigou too rash and hot headed much like our typical Sentai red but in a more "following the rules" kinda way rather than the "doing whatever we want" thing. He comes off as the bad guy compared to our robber friends. Nigo and Sango not much going on for them yet.

Team Pato's robot servant looks horrible! Hate the stupid design and its just unnecessary to have another support character, when we already have Hilltop on Team Pato.

I'm on board with the show, I can't wait to see what unfolds with the show. The mysterious connection that Lupin has with Pato, the sixth ranger is rumored to be a double agent working for both sides, which sounds awesome!

Wait, you mean the casino at the beginning of the episode was NOT the Gangler's base?

When are we going to get some actual actors again as the mains and not just suits?

That hasn't been Sentai's M.O. for over twenty years. The 90s started having one token female with a bunch of suits. Shinkenger-Goseiger onward, everyone's a suit. Gekiranger and Go-Busters are the sole exceptions that I can think of that had two actors playing villains, but in the former's care they were still surrounded by suits.

Yes, which is why I said it is time to start having actors again as suited villains have become so boring.

Also, the non-suited females only didn't start until Gingaman, which was 98, so that was at the end of the 90s. However, Don Duronero had a human form he used a few times in the show, so I guess you really couldn't say that became a common occurence until Gaoranger.

I liked the dinner scene at the Gangler mansion; it was like all of the BB Saloon scenes in Carranger. It's nice when we get to see all of the villains gathered together at once rather than just the bosses and the lackey of the week. I hope most of the Ganglers do get human disguises, as it would make it more plausible that inter-dimensional beings can be roaming around in public and people not only know, but are treating it as normal.

First Sentai premiere I watched since Go-Busters and it did not disappoint. So far, liking Lupin Red the best, characters-wise, followed by Hilltop. Here's hopin' for more goodness of this caliber.

The series trailers showed a Ticket-like puppet character in LupinKaizer's cockpit, so I guess each team gets a human mentor and a non-human sidekick/comic relief character.

The casino was where that one frog-like Gangler was running his con. The base where all of the Ganglers were having their party wasn't the same place. The external establishing shots were of different buildings.

It's a new day, and a new series has come to hopefully steal our hearts and leave us in arrested development. Did it succeed?

Well, I've been both hyped and nervous about this. Hyped because this is the first time an entire series was set around a VS premise (for some reason, it thought it was going to be just a on-off movie to keep promoting DekaRanger or Space Squad), but also nervous because I wondered if the new time slot would change the way Super Sentai's production or story telling was handled in the future.

...The truth is, I feel like I need to see the second episode. Seriously, it just feels like they were focused more on introducing both teams in this first episode no matter what. And because of that, we only got a sneak peak into their lives. We've barely gotten a handle on any of these characters, their strengths, flaws, quirks, etc. As others above me have said, some of these characters come off as cookie-cutter rather than fully developed. But it's just one episode. Hardly fair to judge it at this point, especially when the LupinRangers got most of the spotlight this time around.

But the small things are nice. I love that the chief of the PatRangers is an African American who is fluent in Japanese. If we can get diversity like that in main lead rolls more often, I think I'd be in heaven! I still remember Kyoryuger, even if Ramirez was more of a recurring character rather than a lead character, he still counts in my book! And I like that the robot has an English first AND last name. They didn't have to do that, but they did! And am I the only one that thinks the LupinRanger's butler is actually the original Lupin they mentioned? I wouldn't be surprised if he got old, went into hiding, and pretended to be a butler for the next generation of phantom thieves. Maybe he's biding his time and waiting for the right moment to come out of hiding? Just spit-balling. :)
