One over-looked aspect of the hedge is that the environment psycho-active, mainly meaning that if you thought of something inside of it... you may just find it. Some changelings learned to do this on purpose for use in gathering fruit with magical properties or shaping hollows, the gathering space they had just left being a fantastic example, but this could also backfire if what you were thinking about wasn’t focused.

Bruce was unfortunately finding this out at the moment he was a self proclaimed creature of imagination and right now it was working against him. Every time he began searching for clues something would move nearby in the foliage causing him to stop. When this happened for a third time Bruce realized that none of them was actually keeping an eye out for dangers so he remained on guard.

Andrew wasn’t having a much easier time but he did find a new trail by pushing aside some Kudzu like vines where he noticed a few tufts of silvery fur-like hair caught on the thorns.

Alex followed the wizened’s discovery, this was her trail he could smell her blood and fear and something else... something that made him want to hiss in warning, that smell seemed to be fading however.

Max was suddenly discovering had seen way to many crime shows for his own good he noticed wet patches of ground where blood had been spilt along with gouges in the wood anywhere from 9 to 20 ft up in the air, he might have discounted these, but in the white and green of the exposed wood he could clearly see specks of bright red blood.

(alright now that the trail has been found. we will do whats called a teamwork roll. 1st: pick a party leader (no this isnt permanent) 2nd: everyone else roll your wits + investigation as normal and post your successes as normal. 3rd: the party leader will then roll wits+investigation+ number of dice equal to the successes of the rest of the motley.)

Max wasn't much of an investigator, he knew this but he also had seen enough crime shows to know that a scene like this wasn't something you ignored, mostly because ignoring those tended to be a good way to being apart of such a scene.

He cranked up his volume knob again. "Hey guys I think I found something worth looking at." he shouted before cranking it back down. If nothing else that lizard looking guy might be able to make use of his find, the more animalistic types were good at that sort of thing.

With that he got back to looking around just in case anything else caught his eyes.

Alex followed the wizened’s discovery, this was her trail he could smell her blood and fear and something else... something that made him want to hiss in warning, that smell seemed to be fading however.

Though the scent was fading fast, Alex used his senses to memorize the smell for later.

"Hey guys I think I found something worth looking at."

Alex whipped around at Max's suddenly loud voice. Bounding over to him on all fours, Alex surveyed the bloody path. His tail was stiffly flicking from side to side. A mix of anger and sorrow seemed to sweep through him. Leaning down, though not touching, Alex again memorized the scent for use later.

Andrew took a few moments to carefully examine the thorns for minute details. Hopeful he could use the clue to retrace the victim's steps he tried to guess the angle that that hair been torn at. Andrew Stopped on hearing Alex's calls however, as he turned to face him.

"Umm I-I found some fur here too."

Bruce felt a bit like one of the blokes off those American police procedurals. The suited and booted ones who got all the good shots and made jokes that would get any hack comic thrown off the stage and into oncoming traffic, but always seemed to work for them. He tried to pay equal attention to the discoveries made by his fellow Changelings – the hair and the spilt blood, although for the scent he would more likely have to rely on input from the bestial Alex – and try to link them together, to form a picture in his mind. Thankfully, Bruce often thought to himself, he had a good imagination.

At first the trail was fairly easy to follow, the trees were gashed and tufts of fur were all over the place. even if those werent visible, Alex could have tracked the smell of blood through the growth. Bruce’s imagination worked on the hedge and before him a image of Sella moving in reverse flitted about for a few seconds every so often, dodging something here, looking back over her shoulder there, occasionally looking to the sky.

The quartet followed the trail to a clearing with a still pool of clear water the glade around it reflected darkly in its perfect surface it seemed innocent enough but the eyes of the motley kept coming back to it briefly. Near the middle, a large splotch of blood pooled in the grass surrounded by a woody vine-like plant that bloomed with dark hued roses and On the far right was a cliff over looking a small valley. A castle stood in that Valley, dominating everything else present. Everything the motley could see, towers, walls, doors, even the roof was made of frosted or stained glass gilt with precious metals and glittering from the light of a warm vibrant glow that emanated from the inside if one squinted hard enough in the glow they could just see a steep path down the cliff. Music wafted through the air from the castle, a old plaintive tune played on a violin.

((Alright if you want to investigate the pool it will be Wits+Occult. to investigate the blood it will be a Resolve+ Medicine. Anyone who wants to try the path will be a Dexterity+Athletics))

Of the sights before them Max found himself somewhat drawn to the pool of water, partly because it wasn't bloody and he was getting pretty tired of looking at blood that day all things considered. Yeah it wasn't a very pleasant substance, and generally when it was seen somewhere outside of someone's body it was almost never a good thing. The pool of water on the other hand was nice and clear, very much not bloody as far as he could tell and all around just more pleasant to the eyes on his screen face.

Still moving on all fours, Alex immediately was drawn to the blood. Casting a sideways glance at Max, Alex shook his head. "Too much for you?" Alex asked politely. Shifting his glance to Bruce, Alex motioned to the blood with a clawed hand.

"I'm following this..."

“I suppose I’ll check over here.â€

Andrew said in quiet tone not entirely sure if the rest of the motley had heard him or not, as he moved off to examine the steep pathway. As unlikely as it seemed he didn't want to risk being ambushed while they all starred on liquid on the ground. Reasoning that knowing whether the pathway was safe or not could be useful he walked over and checked it as he balanced carefully.

It did not matter how many times you went there, the Hedge always had some new feature to offer. Like an abandoned amusement park, it was highly overgrown and full of secret, dangerous points of interest. To whit, the images of Sella he had seen, when she had been running from something, and more presently, the strange castle in the valley. There was a part of him which was really intrigued by that, even if it did seem a bit girly for his usual tastes. Bruce liked his real estate a bit spikier.

First thing was first, though. He was getting the feeling that the rest of the little motley were coming to look to him as their de facto leader, and they all seemed to be doing separate investigations. He did not particularly prioritise the blood or the pool in his head, but Alex clearly wanted him to come over and look. He did not want to look like a muppet by ignoring the call.

“Keep your wits, mate,†said Bruce, pointing with two fingers in a vaguely gun-like gesture towards Andrew. “Eyes open, let us know if you see anything.†That being said, he went over to where Alex had called him. “What’ve you got?â€
