(Not to be confused with the the 2009 anime film Redline.)

In the early 2000s, Lebanese immigrant Daniel Sadek made a fortune out of his subprime mortgage firm Quick Loan Funding, raking in millions and spending them on collecting dozens of supercars and flying to Vegas every week to play poker. At the same time, he was engaged to soap opera actress Nadia Bjorlin. And so in 2007, as a means to show off his car collection and help boost his fiance's film career, he spent well over US$26 million to make his first and only full-length motion picture: Redline.

This film has sparked controversy among car enthusiasts, as Sadek intentionally wrecked many of his prized cars during filming - including a Porsche Carrera GT worth over half a million dollars. Then, on March 2007, during a charity race to promote the film, actor Eddie Griffin crashed Sadek's US$1.5 million Enzo Ferrari before Sadek went on to have pictures of himself with the wrecked car.

Like the cars that were sacrificed during the film's production, Redline crashed and burned at the box office, earning just over US$8 million in ticket sales. Furthermore, it's one of the few movies with a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

In the aftermath of its failure, Redline became a contributing factor to the subprime mortgage crisis, as money from Quick Loan Funding was used to produce the film. Eventually, Quick Loan Funding went bust, and Sadek broke up with Bjorlin. In retrospect, the film's villain Michael more or less reflects Sadek's real-life character on screen.

Aside from all this, the movie just reeks of a poorly edited script, bland acting and countless filming errors. It makes all of The Fast and the Furious movies look like Oscar contenders.

So with all that in mind, is Redline the worst car movie ever made. Watch the video and see for yourself.

So glad you put that clarification in the first sentence. Had totally never heard of this movie and was about to come in here and be like "What!? Redline was awesome."

Hehe...this looks awful.
