I don't see why they should be an outcry over AV actress doing a kid's show .... At the end of the day, its a job that pays the bills for them and ultimately how they act is more important than what they did in the past .... Anyway, those AV actress who jumped to the mainstream media eventually retire from the AV industry with Oikawa and Honoka case in point

Seriously? I can understand one on this show (didn't surprise me too much really), but I'm suprised to hear that people aren't giving a second thought to putting pornstars on kids shows.

The complaints would be based on fallacies, sure, but that would cause mass outrage in the states. People had issues when Katy Perry showed up on Sesame Street of all things.

Gingaman did it too.

That's because the US is a country of prudes who think Fox news is the way things should be. Most countries don't have the fear of sex the US does.

It's pretty irritating that people act like Sentai is just always casting porn stars when there's just three examples -- Carranger's Zonette, Megaranger's Shiborena and Go-onger's Kegareshia. (No, Gingaman's Shelinda is NOT an AV idol.)

And, yeah, Japan is just sooooooooooo open-minded and A-OK and cooler than America in their thinking with porn and sex that they made it a law to blur out the genitals in their hardcore porn movies.

That law was written a LONG ass time ago. It's just still on the books. And yes, Japan is a lot more open with sex that the US. If you dispute this, I will just have to say you are wrong.

US is strange in that they think nothing of violence, blood, and gore; we can see them in TV shows and some reality TV. But show a little skin and the FCC will be on top of the show like whites on rice. Also, only movies that have controversial scenes with sex have received NC-17 rating, but never any movie that show ultra-realistic mutilation or violence (that I know of, anyway).

The only similar person I can think of outside Japan is Xuxa, who was a porn star in Brazil and is now a kids' TV presenter. Not sure you'd see that in too many other countries though ...

Am I the only one who noticed that they used Vocaloid in some of the BGM? Oh Japan, you and your freakishly obsessive love of Miku permeates everything!

When the S.H.Figuarts Akibarangers gets released, I wonder if they'll make a big deal about on the show?

OK as pointed out above there have only been three in the official series. But consider the number of gravure idols who are still releasing photobooks while acting in Sentai and tell me they weren't hoping a few otaku would be paying up for them

Also, without wanting to offend anyone or go off on any kind of rambling lecture, generally countries/cultures with a long association with the Abrahamic religions tend to be waaay more stressed out about sex than other parts of the world. :confused2

If you ever get the chance, see if you can track down a British documentary series called "Japanarama". It's a weird, slightly awkward look at Japanese culture (and especially cinema) that's quite outdated now, but they devote an entire episode to explaining that the Japanese movie industry tends to see AV films in a similar way to how Hollywood looked at all those "counter culture" films in the 60s like Easy Rider (no pun intended). The companies that fund those films don't care about the content as long as it has sex in somewhere, so the directors basically just make these experimental think pieces that show off their skills so they can get work in the more mainstream/luctrative areas. In return, the mainstream see it as another way somebody can get experience of actually being on a set, working with the camera etc rather than just turning up having no clue at all.

They'd probably save it for the final episode as a way of having them acomplish their mission lol. But it would be very cool to see.

For the sake of the argument, why is it STILL on the books at all?

The original cut of Robocop is one of those movies. It had to remove some of the violence to pass for an R rating. And supposedly it took ELEVEN attempts to finally pass.
