It's weird...for quite a while, way before it was known there would be an Ohranger episode, Japanese fans kept saying they wanted for Gokaiger to use that song. And I would think "why would Toei break going with the OP theme," and then the show goes and does it. I don't know if there's some significance behind Nijiiro Crystal Sky that I'm unaware of or if the fans were heard...

they aired ohranger during a hard time in japan,anybody wants to see people dead and building destructions after something bad ( a earthquake was? i can't remember...), toei really **** ohranger just for that

You had cool, super-serious heroes up against idiot, cartoonish villains. It would be like...having the Timeranger fight the Gaiark.

Nevertheless, the Ohranger cast is pretty popular with the Japanese fans, even if the show isn't considered to be one of the best. I mean, I like the cast -- I think they deserved a better show, though.
