Travel in RPGs, in our opinion, is one of the things that we most often see mismatched with the tone and feel of the rest of the overall session or campaign. So often there is only one style or mode of travel in D&D and other tabletop RPGs that is used, and in many cases... it can really derail most games narratively.

When travel is used as an escape from the main story on purpose, it can be an amazing thing, but many Dungeon Masters/Game Masters only know one way to let travel play out at their tables, and when the game is sidetracked accidentally because of travel, it can be a downer on any game.

In this video we discuss how we use (and don't use) travel in our tabletop roleplaying game sessions and camapaigns. We hope you enjoy, and we'd love to read your thoughts and ideas in the comments.
