First, And Probably Last, Photos from The Batgirl Set Revealed
The self-induced collapse of the Batgirl movie is not just one of the weirdest entertainment news headlines of 2022, but will probably go down as one of the weirdest moments in Hollywood history. It’s exceedingly rare for a studio to spend a gajillion dollars on a movie and then decide to scrap it 95% of the way through production. It’s rarer still for said studio to make no effort to recoup their investment through a limited release or selling the movie to someone else. Despite reports that Batgirl was halted for being “bad,” there’s no evidence it was a stinker. I mean, no one’s actually seen the thing.
And perhaps no one ever will, but star Leslie Grace provided some looks into what could have been on her Insta account. She posted a series of images from her life experiences in 2022, one of them being Batgirl. From there, we got a couple of new snapshots that answer some questions….like did they ever improve Barbara’s costume? You probably don’t need me to show you the one image of Batgirl that graces every single article on the movie, but just in case you’ve been living in a cave, here it is again:
I didn’t mind the look of this costume because, in the context of the movie, it would have needed to be sewn together by Barbara herself — she is not a billionaire. Looks like the costume was overhauled though. Here’s the final version, worn by Grace while she snacks on some cheese sticks:
Another image reveals what Brendan Fraser’s Firefly villain would have looked like. Keep in mind he’s a fire-themed baddie who uses flames to attack people with, so he needs a full-body suit to protect him from the elements:
It’s not answered if Fraser is really in there. Someone else walks around as Robotman on Doom Patrol and Fraser dubs in his voice later.
And that’s Batgirl! To see any more, you’ll have to find the alternate dimension where the movie came out.
