Final Fantasy VII PC re-release confirmed
Square Enix have revealed that Final Fantasy VII is set to be re-released to PC this year, with a few extra features. There’s some info and a trailer after the break.
The Final Fantasy VII re-release won’t be a big HD remake like we’ve been seeing from other games recently, but it will run fine on newer versions of Windows, unlike the last PC release.
The game will also come with extra features such as achievements, cloud saves between different PCs and a ‘character booster’ designed to level up your characters quickly so you can play through the story with ease (personally, sounds like it could be micro-transactions).
Minimum system requirements are, understandably, pretty low:
- Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7 (32/64-bit)
- 2GHz Processor or faster
- 1GB RAM
- DirectX 9-compatible graphic card
Final Fantasy VII will be released ‘this year’ for PC, and available exclusively through Square’s online store. (It’s also on sale on the UK PSN for £4 right now, by the way).

Wish they would just remake this… I know a lot don’t like remakes, or would rather have them focus on new games(really? thats been working out…) but something in me hopes they remake it, it was so epic when i was a kid.

Square have said they won’t remake FFVII until they make a game better than it… so never, then.

yeah, i hear that nothing since has been as good. that’s kinda bad press to be stuck with, even if it’s true. still, i like dragon age and elder scrolls and pokemon, so I’ve got my rpg bases covered up to my eyeballs. they’re all bottomless pits you can throw time into and still find new stuff to do.

Thats the thing though… if they remade it… it would be a better game then ff7. It really is next to a perfect game, if you updated the look with what they could do now… i don’t even want to think about it. They aren’t going to make a better game, i don’t think you could make a better rpg then that on a console. The new ff games….. lack.

i’ve never played ff7 (nintendo growing up, not ps), but I doubt i’ll touch it until an HD or update (like firered for pokemon) comes out that brings the experience up to date whilst keeping the essence of the game the same.
yes, I know people have sworn by it for years. I just haven’t played it yet, mainly because I don’t like sony products as much.

FF was on Nintendo to start… didn’t follow it over to Sony, huh?

well, if it was on nintendo first, i never knew. for some perspective, when final fantasy 7 came out, i was in the third grade. i had no clue it existed at the time. why? well, i really didnt play videogames at that point. next year, pokemon came out and I’ve loved them ever since. but 10 years later I still hear people swear by it, so I figure it must have been good, like ocarina of time: a classic.
