Battle Royale games oversaturation
Battle Royale Games are everywhere ever since Fortnite and multiplayer Minecraft became hits. So Many titles sprouted like Mushrooms with different varieties and flavors. We have games like Valorant, Apex Legends, PubG,Firestorm and Dying Light: Bad Blood. This reminds me of the 90s when fighting games became a hit. It caused an oversaturation of Fighting Games that it almost destroyed the genre. It will take the creation of Street Fighter IV for the Fighting Game Genre to recover. We are having an Over saturation of Battle Royale Games. It can be a good thing or a bad thing but games with no active community will not survive.
Now we have two Battle Royale games that are based on popular IPs of different genres because everyone wanted a slice of the pie.
Recently, Square Enix announced Final Fantasy VII: First Soldier. It is a Battle Royale game set in the Final Fantasy VII remake. The game will use recycled assets from the Final Fantasy VII remake and most likely Final Fantasy XIV. People can fight with guns and melee weapons in this game. I don’t know if Magic and summons will be part of this game too.
People accused Square Enix of selling out because Final Fantasy has been an RPG first and foremost. I cannot blame them for doing this because they just use recycled assets. This game is pretty much cheap to do.
There is also RE: Verse, a Battle Royale game starring Resident evil characters. Now we can see the Redfield siblings kill each other for no reason because this game has no plot. It is just a Battle Royale Game made of recycled assets from Resident Evil Village,Resident Evil 3 remake,Resident evil 2 remake and Resident Evil VII.
Re: Verse is at least a freebie for Resident evil village. It is an Anniversary presentation of Resident evil anniversary. I would have preferred if Capcom continued the support of Resident evil Resistance instead.
