Let’s hope Narcos: Rise Of The Cartels has what it takes to break the streak. Curve Digital and developer Kuju are turning the crime drama into a tactical turn-based strategy game. The time is the 1980s and the location is Colombia…there are two playable opposing sides; the Narcos drug empire led by El Patron, and the DEA after them, led by Steve Murphy. Pick your side, then get ready to fight.
Rise of the Cartels tries to shake up its genre with a couple new plays on familiar strategy game mechanics. Units on both sides move simultaneously, and you’ll be able to take direct third-person command over members of your team during critical moments of battle. But there is also plenty of traditional gameplay that people love: pick classes and skills for your team and watch them grow and advance as you gain experience.
Based on the hit Netflix series from production company, Gaumont,, Narcos: Rise of the Cartels features iconic locations and characters from the show, offering players the chance to step into the criminal underworld alongside characters such as El Mexicano, Murphy, Peña, Primo and more – each with their own unique gameplay abilities and perks to help turn the tide of battle. Explore familiar scenery from the show and take a pivotal role in world-altering events that will define and shift the war on drugs.
Narcos: Rise of the Cartels will be out in late 2019 for Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch, XBox One and PC. A physical version for consoles is also in the works, and you can pre-order it at retailers starting today. Now check out its TWO trailers — for the Narcos side and the DEA side!
