Famke Janssen Wants To Be Jean Grey Again
X-Men: Apocalypse is a major movie for the X-Men franchise in many ways. First, it’ll introduce one of the most powerful, and most popular, X-Men villains in the being known as Apocaplyse. But also, it’ll reintroduce the characters of Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm in their younger versions. This trio was the crux of the original X-Men trilogy aside from Wolverine, and thus it’ll be interesting to see how they’re played here along with the “First Class” group from the new movies.
One person who is excited for this is Famke Janssen, who played Jean Grey in the original movies. She notes to Entertainment Weekly that Sophie Turner actually emailed her for pointers on what to do:
“She emailed me before she started filming wanting some pointers,” says Janssen of Turner. “And I said, ‘You don’t need any. You’re perfect. You’re great.’ So I can’t wait to see the movie and what she’s done with it.”
Jannsen also notes that she wants to be back as Jean Grey, and act along with her other self like the others have done before:
“I’m actually really excited about it,” she says of watching a young Jean Grey. “And its not the first time obviously that it’s happened. In the X-Men series, they’ve been doing this for years. Although women, it’s interesting because they’re replaced, and the older versions – or more mature, whatever the politically correct version of that is – are never to be seen again. Whereas the men are allowed to be both ages. I think that I should be back along with my younger version and the way that we’ve seen it with Magneto and Professor X.”
X-Men: Apocalypse arrives May 27th.
