The desert crime thriller Emerald Run will be released in over 100 theaters next month.
An electric cast, headed up by David Chokachi (“Witchblade”), Yancy Butler (Drop Zone), Chris Mulkey (“Twin Peaks”), Vernon Wells (Commando), John Schneider (“Smallville”) and Michael Pare (Streets of Fire), feature in EMERALD RUN, coming to theaters everywhere February 21.
You know what we find bizarre about that blurb? Yancy Butler was also in Witchblade….she was the main character, and yet Chokachi gets the mention over her. There’s that rumor that the Witchblade show was cancelled because of Butler’s drinking problem at the time, but that can’t be what’s at play here.
Right….the movie itself. Emerald Run is about John Thomas (Chokachi’s character), a devoted family man whose daughter has contracted a rare disease. Healing her will cost money they don’t have, but Thomas’ father in law has the perfect solution…help him smuggle emeralds across the border! What could go wrong….well, a lot. He should’ve listened to his gut feelings on this one.
In addition to the listed actors above, Emerald Run also stars Steven Williams (“The X-Files”), Angela Gots (“Madam Secretary”), Anthony Caruso (“Upgrade”) and Adam Gifford (“Longmire”). It was directed by Eric Eetbari from a script written by Anthony Caruso and Marialisa Caruso, and it receives wide release February 21.
From director Eric Etebari, John Thomas ventures on a desert excursion orchestrated by his questionably righteous father in law. Though reluctant at first, the exacerbating toll of his daughter’s medical condition forces John to seek recompense across the border. Throughout his journey, John encounters various characters that raise new conflicts, both internally and externally, allowing him to reflect on his relationships with those he left back home and find inspiration in the one long gone.
