EA Sports UFC 2: Aldo vs. McGregor Winner Gets the Cover
It looks like gold will not be the only thing on the line when UFC interim featherweight champion Conor McGregor faces reigning featherweight champion Jose Aldo for the undisputed title at UFC 194. EA Sports has officially announced that the winner of the upcoming headliner for UFC 194 will be the second fighter to be on the cover of the upcoming EA Sports UFC 2 video game in 2016. As previously reported, former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has already been confirmed as the other fighter on the cover. The winner of Jose Aldo vs. Conor McGregor will decide which fighter graces the cover opposite Rousey.
This is certainly a unique and interesting way to decide who will get to be on the cover of the next video game. Usually, fans would be able to vote on who wins the cover. That was the case for EA Sports UFC. But it seems like the winner of an upcoming MMA fight gracing the cover is a sensible way to decide the choice.
UFC President Dana White said the following on the announcement: “The main event at UFC 194 between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor is without a doubt one of the most anticipated events in UFC history,” UFC President Dana White said. “Aldo and McGregor are two of the biggest stars in the world and it’s fitting that next Saturday night the winner not only becomes the undisputed UFC featherweight champion, but also the second global cover athlete of EA SPORTS UFC 2.”
EA Sports VP of Marketing Jamie McKinlay added: “Fight for the Cover is another way we are bringing an authentic and exciting experience to the fans. From the Octagon at UFC 194 on December 12, to the Octagon in EA SPORTS UFC 2, this is a huge moment in UFC and EA SPORTS history, and we’re thrilled to be a part of it.”
The fight between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor to determine who will make the cover of the game will be held at UFC 194 on Saturday, December 12 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. EA Sports UFC 2 is scheduled for a spring 2016 release for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
