Sony has confirmed in their media briefing at E3 2013 that the PlayStation 4 will cost $399 when it launches. In Europe, it will cost €399 and for the UK, £349.
The price of next gen consoles have been heavily debated and many analyst have suggested that we will be faced with a console price of less than $400 due to console developers using cheaper AMD parts. While Sony have managed to keep their console competitive, Microsoft on the other hand is charging a whole $100 more for the Xbox One.
So apparently, DRM is expensive to implement. Who knew?
