To kick off the E3 2013 Nintendo Direct broadcast, Satoru Iwata unveiled footage for the long awaited three-dimensional Super Mario Wii U game, aptly titled Super Mario 3D World.
This title is being developed by the same team that made Super Mario 3D Land on the 3DS, and considering how much fun that portable adventure was it can only mean good things for this upcoming game.
The trailer shown during the broadcast revealed a new type of power up, the Cat Suit, which allows Mario to scratch enemies and crawl up certain surfaces. A four player multiplayer mode was also shown, bringing together Mario, Luigi, Peach and Toad in a way not seen since Super Mario 2. Iwata highlighted that this multiplayer can be co-operative or competitive based on the sensibility of the players, get ready for friends to steal your power-ups!
