Techland has announced the story and price details for an upcoming story-based expansion for the first-person, zombie horror game Dying Light. The new DLC, The Following, is a story-based expansion which will allow players to explore a massive new area for the game that is according to Techland as big as the original maps from the game combined.
The Following sees protagonist Kyle Crane travel to a hazardous outback ruled by mysterious and fanatical cultists, whose beliefs have disturbing connections to the zombie outbreak. In order to get close to the cult and learn their secrets, players have to earn the trust of the locals through missions and tasks, similar to the original game. Players will be able to choose their own path for infiltrating the inner circles of the cultists. New to the game will be dirt buggies, which are fully customizable, upgradable and have their own unique skill tree. This will help players traverse the Harran countryside.
Speaking on the new DLC, producer Tymon Smektala commented: “Gamescom 2015 was our first chance to let people play Dying Light: The Following so I was a bit nervous. But so many positive reactions really showed me we made the right decision to work on this expansion. With its new map and far-reaching gameplay additions, it feels like we’ve hit the sweet spot for what players are expecting from us.”
The release date for Dying Light: The Following will be announced later on. The DLC expansion will be available at $14.99. All Dying Light Season Pass holders will receive the DLC for free. You can check out the reveal trailer for The Following below.
