The Fast And Furious franchise went from almost dead to one of the biggest blockbuster series around in just about two or three movies. While there have been some bumps in the road, including the unfortunate death of series regular Paul Walker, one of the biggest inclusions in the series was Dwayne Johnson. He came in via Fast Five and has stuck around even since, and will even be part of a spinoff featuring him and Jason Statham.
However, he’s had spats with two of his fellow actors, including Tyrese Gibson and Vin Diesel. The Diesel one came during the news about the spinoff as well as during the final edits of Fate of the Furious, and Dwayne Johnson spoke about how he was actually glad the spat happened.
“What I came to realize is that we have a fundamental difference in philosophies on how we approach moviemaking and collaborating,” he explained. “It took me some time, but I’m grateful for that clarity. Whether we work together again or not.”
He went on about his possible role in Fast and Furious 9:
“I’m not quite sure. Right now I’m concentrating on making the spinoff as good as it can be.”
It’s clear that things are changing behind the scenes, and we’ll just have to wait and see how it all plays out.
