Drew Barrymore Is A Zombie Now
How can you tell when the zombie trend has finally been milked dry? When Drew Barrymore is playing one.
Seriously, though, early buzz is positive about Santa Clarita Diet, a new Netflix series premiering February 3. Drew plays Sheila Hammond, a perfectly average real estate agent in California with a perfectly average family. The job pays well and she has a happy, loving marriage. Her only real problem, if you can call it that, is she’s secretly a zombie with a constant hunger for human flesh.
There’s some real talent behind this: the creator is Victor Fresco, the man who brought us Better Off Ted for ABC and Andy Richter Controls The Universe for Fox. And the cast is great: in addition to the seasoned Barrymore, Timothy Olyphant (TV’s Justified) is playing Barrymore’s husband Joel, and Nathan Fillion (you know who Nathan Fillion is) plays the rival agent at Sheila’s office.
Santa Clarita Diet retains the quirky tone of Fresco’s previous output. “There’s a real optimism to the show,” Barrymore said to USA Today. “I don’t want to watch a show about a couple fighting and falling apart, I can’t handle it right now. It’s not heavy, but it’s not lacking in a sort of sweetness, if you will. But it’s also got bite and backbone and balls.”
The big problem is that due to massive zombie fatigue, this could wind up brilliant yet undiscovered. Which would put it in line with Fresco’s other creations. Even if it only lasts one season, at least we’ve got something to sate our appetite while we’re waiting for the $^%%^$ CW to run the ^%$#&^ third season of iZombie. (Where is it already??)

Drew Barrymore is a really nice actress and she has played a number of different roles, but Zombie was certainly not one of them. I don't know what this will add to her career, but I am not exactly a zombie fan. 🙂

I am not a fan of any of the zombie shows or movies to be honest. Drew is a great actress so I hope her acting may have a good impact on me and make me give that zombie show a chance. I bet that it will be a hit since many people are fund of the zombie trend.

I am a fan of Drew Barrymore and I always watch her movies. Yes I think she is a great actress and since this is her first Zombie flick, I think she'll do good as well. I'm also a huge Zombie movie movies and the only Zombie film that I've seen great after Dawn of the Dead was Train to Busan. I hope I can include this one on my list 🙂

I don't think that being a zombie requires great acting, as actors have way too much characterization and we can't even see their expressions straight. It's just being there and mumbling something no?
